The photography fee cover the times for planning, research, location hunting, prepare, casting, styling, props prepare, art direction, travel arrangement setup and photography. It also covers some of the costs of business overheads, reference materials, equipments, administration, salaries and training.

Additional charges may apply for items such as specialized support staff (ie. make-up artist), once-off supplies, backgrounds, sets or other props that are specific for the project. Specialized rental equipment, travel and accommodation will also be billed separately.

Processing & image prep

For digital please be noted that we just photography in RAW digital files for ensure the best quality. These raw files are unusable by most publishing programs and must first be processed, such like film, but with a computer rather than a darkroom. This is a one time charge per project and is based on the total number of images photographed.

For film there will be extra fee for scan.

Image processing expenses include the cost of equipment and labour to download, transfer, process, batch convert, re name/number, evaluate, save, prep for proofing and archive digital files.

Image licensing (the digital file)

Finished images are licensed for use with some extent, will determine the price. When asking for a quote, it is important to know how the images will be used. Quantity prices for some projects are based on the final number of images selected from the particular session.

Master Images include basic colour enhancement, minor retouching, optimization and burning to CD-R / DVD-R in your choice of file format (ie. tif, jpg), colour space (RGB, CMYK) and resolution (typically 300ppi).

Requests for additional files of the same image in different resolutions, color space or size will be billed as separate images. Additional requests for the same file will be billed as a separate item.

Master Images are licensed for limited usage. Photographer retains copyright. Unlimited usage is available by quotation. Images shall not be let out for use by a third party without the permission of the photographer and the negotiation of an additional fee. Large quantities of images, such as for catalog work, will be quoted by the job.

Usage fees for Ken Tam's images are based on the following detail information provided by the client:

• Use Category - Advertising, Editorial, Corporate, etc.
• Use Type - Brochure, Print ad, billboard, etc
• Use Volume - Print run size, Circulation
• Use Size - 1/4, 1/2, Full, Double Page, Cover, etc.
• Rights Requested - One-Time/Non-Exclusive, Unlimited for a specified period, etc.

Electronic usage (typically on web sites) is another category:

• Use Type - Banner Advertising or Corporate Web Site
• Company Type - Multi-National, National, Regional or Local
• Image Location - Home Page, Secondary Page
• Image Use Size - Navigation Button, 1/4 Screen to Full Screen or Background
• Duration - number of months or years

Usage fees may also be affected by picture-specific factors such as:

• Image Uniqueness
• High Risk Factors
• High Production Costs
• Special Equipment Requirements
• Minimum Fee Established by Photographer

Post production

Artwork and addition of logos, text, backgrounds, special effects, digital slide show and albums. Will belong to extensive retouching and extra works, and we can provide such services with a separate quote and invoice.

Different Jobs Require different amounts of work and therefore different prices. Loading and usage fees for various types of jobs will be negotiated at the prevailing industry rates.
