Monitor Calibration ... What's the point really?

I only edit on calibrated monitors since 1997, I think it's the basic requirement for a serious photographer.
How come in 2010 people still don't understand?
Do you viewing others photograph with a calibrated monitor?
I am not trying to tell you the importance of calibrate your monitor, I just want to tell you that you must have it if you are in the business.
